A 14-year-old Hillsboro girl was killed and two other teenagers were hurt in a two-vehicle traffic accident Saturday afternoon (Nov. 14) on Hwy. B just west of Hillsboro.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that a 16-year-old boy from De Soto was driving a 1999 Ford Ranger north on Hwy. B south of Rocky Farm Road at 4:50 p.m. when he failed to negotiate a curve to the left and crossed over the center line and the front of a southbound 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 driven by Samuel Skidmore, 27, of De Soto, hit the right side of the Ford.
A 14-year-old girl from Hillsboro was killed in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by personnel from the Valle Ambulance District at 4:59 p.m., the report said.
The 16-year-old driver of the Ford sustained serious injuries and was taken by Valle Ambulance to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur, the report said.
Another passenger in the Ford, a 13-year-old girl from Hillsboro, suffered moderate injuries and was taken by Valle Ambulance to St. Louis Children’s Hospital, the report said.
Updates on their conditions were not available.
The report made no mention of an injury to Skidmore.
The Highway Patrol does not name juveniles involved in traffic accidents.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts, but the two girls riding in the Ford were not, the report said. The Ford was totaled while the Dodge had moderate damage.
