Four Jefferson County residents – two women and two men – were injured Sunday evening (Nov. 14) in a three-vehicle accident on Hwy. Z west of Sandy Creek Road west of Pevely, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 7:58 p.m., Daniel K. Cronin, 29, of Barnhart was driving a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado east on the highway and reportedly crossed the center line and traveled into the westbound lanes. In the meantime, Nicholas D. Keating, 26, of Hillsboro, who was driving a westbound 2020 Nissan Kick, steered right to try to avoid a collision, but the front left side of the Silverado struck the front of the Kick. The Silverado also struck the front of a westbound 2004 Saturn Vue driven by Ashley R. Herren, 20 of Festus, the report said.
Cronin was moderately injured and taken by private conveyance for treatment.
Keating was seriously injured and a passenger in the Kick – Ashtin L. Keating, 25, of Pevely – was moderately injured, and both were taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, where they were treated and released, a hospital spokesman said.
Herren was seriously injured and taken by helicopter to Mercy Hospital South, where she was treated and released, the spokesman said.
Cronin and Nicholas Keating were not wearing seat belts, Ashtin Keating was wearing one, and it’s unknown if Herren was wearing one, the patrol reported.
The Silverado and Vue were totaled, and the Kick was extensively damaged, the report said.
