Kathryn Parker, 73, of Festus was injured Tuesday night (July 27) in a three-vehicle accident at highways 61-67 and M in Barnhart, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 8:10 p.m., a 16-year-old from Barnhart was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado pickup north on Hwy. 61-67 and while attempting to turn left onto westbound Hwy. M, he pulled into the path of a 2009 Toyota RAV4 headed south on Hwy. 61-67, and the front of the RAV4 struck the right side of the pickup. Then, both the pickup and SUV struck the left side of a 2007 Cadillac CTS that was stopped on eastbound Hwy. M while the driver was waiting to turn right onto southbound Hwy. 61-67, the report said.
Donald J. Wieland, 89, of Imperial was driving the RAV4, and Gabriel B. Dohack, 19, of Imperial was driving the Cadillac.
No injuries were reported for the Barnhart teenager, Wieland or Dohack. However, Parker, who was a passenger in the RAV4, was moderately injured and taken by Rock Township Ambulance to Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City, where she was treated and released, a hospital spokesman said.
All those involved in the accident were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.
The three vehicles were extensively damaged, the report said.
The highway patrol did not release the name of the 16-year-old because he is a juvenile.
