A Festus woman and girl were injured Friday night, Nov. 25, in a head-on accident on Old Hwy. A east of Woodland Road west of Festus, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 8:56 p.m., Randal L. Ripley, 44, of Hillsboro was driving a 2004 Volvo 580 east on the highway and reportedly crossed the double-yellow center line, and then the front of the car struck the front of a westbound 2010 Mercury Milan driven by Linda M. Riggins, 57, of Festus, according to the patrol.

No injuries were reported for Ripley.

However, Riggins was moderately injured, and a passenger in the Milan – a 12-year-old Festus girl – sustained minor injuries, and the two were taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City, the report said.

The two drivers were wearing seat belts, but the girl was not wearing one, the patrol reported.

The two cars were extensively damaged, the report said.

The patrol did not release the girl’s name because she is a juvenile.
