A 13-year-old Festus girl was turned over to juvenile authorities for allegedly driving her parents’ car without permission and hitting another vehicle in Arnold, according to Arnold Police.
At about 7 a.m. Dec. 30, the teenager allegedly was driving a 2008 Ford Focus north on Jeffco Boulevard and hit a 2022 GMC Acadia near Hwy. 141 in Arnold. A witness told police that after the accident, the girl pulled into the parking lot behind the Hobby Lobby in the Arnold Mall shopping plaza at the intersection of Jeffco and Hwy. 141, the report said.
Officers found the damaged car behind the store, but no one was inside. Police contacted the owner of the Focus, and one of the teen’s parents said the car and the girl were not at home, according to the report.
At about 9:20 a.m. that day, a family member took the girl to the Arnold Police Department, and juvenile authorities were contacted to handle the case, Arnold Police Detective Lt. Jeremey Christopher said.
