A Festus teenager was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and possession of marijuana after he was involved in a single-vehicle accident early Saturday, Nov. 11, in Cedar Hill, in which he and four other teens were injured.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the 18-year-old was driving a 1996 Chevrolet Silverado south on Hwy. BB north of Three B Road at 12:34 a.m. when he failed to negotiate a curve and the Silverado went off the right side of the road and overturned.
A passenger, Conner Hamman, 18, of Festus sustained serious injuries. The driver and two other passengers – Cameron Horr, 18, of Hillsboro and a 17-year-old Cedar Hill boy – all suffered moderate injuries and a fourth passenger, Maxemillion Kolano, 19, of Hillsboro, had minor injuries. All were taken to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County: Horr by Valle Ambulance, Kolano by North Jefferson Ambulance and the rest by Big River Ambulance.
Updates on their conditions were not available.
The driver was arrested by the Highway Patrol on four counts of suspicion of driving while intoxicated and causing serious physical injury and possession of a controlled substance (29 grams of marijuana).
He will not be named unless he is charged with a crime by the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
The Highway Patrol does not release the names of juveniles involved in traffic accidents.
Kolano was the only one involved in the accident who was wearing a seat belt, the report said.
The Silverado was totaled, according to the report.
