A Festus motorcyclist was seriously injured early Saturday evening (Nov. 7) in a collision with an automobile in Festus.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that Aaron McPherson, 26, of Festus was riding a 2020 Kymco Spade motorcycle east on Veterans Boulevard (Hwy. A) in Festus and was attempting to turn left onto South Mill Street at 7:16 p.m. According to the report, McPherson did not yield the right of way to a westbound 2020 Kia Optima driven by Jamie Manley, 36, of St. Louis, and the Kia hit the motorcycle.

McPherson, who according to the report was not wearing a safety helmet, sustained serious injuries and he was taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County. The report made no mention of an injury to Manley, who reportedly was wearing a seat belt.

An update on McPherson’s condition was not available.

The motorcycle was totaled while the Kia had moderate damage, according to the report.
