motorcycle crash patrol patch

A Festus man and an 11-year-old Maryland boy were injured in a motorcycle accident after striking a deer on Hwy. H west of Cooper Road in Washington County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

On Sunday, July 28, at 7:40 p.m., Dustin M. Mills, 24, was riding an eastbound 2018 Harley-Davidson Street Glide when he struck a deer in the road, causing the motorcycle to overturn and slide off the road, ejecting both Mills and the juvenile passenger, the report said.

Mills was moderately injured, and the boy had minor injuries, the report said. Mills was taken by Washington County Ambulance to Washington County Memorial Hospital in Potosi, and the boy was taken by the ambulance district to Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City.

Because the boy is a juvenile, the police did not release his name.

Both Mills and the juvenile were wearing Missouri Department of Transportation-approved safety helmets, and the motorcycle was totaled, the report said.
