A Hillsboro man was injured in a two-vehicle traffic accident early Saturday, July 9, on Hwy. B south of Forest Drive near the entrance to the Raintree Plantation development west of Hillsboro.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that Paul Comfort, 65, of Hillsboro was driving a 2001 Mazda B Series pickup north on Hwy. B at 9:35 a.m. when his truck began sliding while he was negotiating a curve and crossed the center line and into the path of a southbound 2019 Ford F250 driven by Sean Dawson, 49, of Festus. The right side of the Mazda hit the front of the Ford.

The report made no mention of an injury to Dawson, but Comfort sustained moderate injuries and he was taken by Valle Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, the report said.

An update on his injuries was not available.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts, the report said.

The Mazda was totaled while the Ford had extensive damage, according to the report.
