A 34-year-old Festus man was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated following a one-vehicle on Christmas afternoon (Dec. 25) on Hwy. 61-67 south of Elm Drive in Jefferson County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 12:01 p.m., the man was driving a 2005 Cadillac Escalade north on the highway and ran off the left side of the road, where the vehicle struck a tree, the report said.
The man was seriously hurt in the accident and taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County.
He was not wearing a seat belt, the patrol reported.
The vehicle was totaled, the report said.
The highway patrol arrested the man at 2:24 p.m. at the hospital.
The man’s name will not be published unless charges are filed against him, and as of this afternoon (Dec. 26) none had been filed.
