A Farmington teenager was killed and a Eureka man was injured early this morning (Sept. 16) in a two-car accident on Hwy. 79 south of Hwy. C in St. Charles County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.
At 2:48 a.m., Zoe M. Gratton, 17, of Farmington was driving a 2005 Ford Focus north on Hwy. 79, and the car crossed the center line into the path of a southbound 2016 Volkswagen driven by Christopher C. Marks, 28, of Eureka, and while Marks attempted to avoid a collision by veering to the left, the Focus returned to the northbound lanes, and the front left side of the Jetta struck the front left side of the Focus, the report said.
Marks sustained minor injuries and was taken by private conveyance to Progress West Hospital in O’Fallon.
Gratton was pronounced dead at the scene.
Marks was not wearing a seat belt, and Gratton was wearing one, the patrol reported.
Both cars were totaled, the report said.
