Katie M. St. John, 35, of Eureka was hurt late Tuesday afternoon (March 31) in a three-vehicle accident on I-44 east of the 258.6 mile marker in the Pacific area, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 4:31 p.m., St. John was driving a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan east on the interstate and swerved to avoid an object in the road, and the minivan ran off the left side of the road, where it struck the median wall and a construction sign, the report said.
The sign was knocked into the westbound lanes, and a 2008 Chrysler Aspen driven by Elizabeth E. Buchanan, 41, of Robertsville struck the sign. Then, an eastbound 2012 Ford Focus driven by Diana L. Hughes, 69, of Ballwin struck the object in the eastbound lanes, according to the report.
No injuries were reported for Buchanan or Hughes. However, St. John was moderately hurt and taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital Washington.
All three drivers were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.
The Grand Caravan and Aspen were totaled, and the Focus was moderately damaged, the report said.
