A Eureka man was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated after he was involved in a single-vehicle accident early Sunday (July 18) on I-44 in Pacific in Franklin County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the 25-year-old was driving a 2012 Volkswagen Passat east on I-44 near the 256.8 mile marker on I-44 at 12:10 a.m. when he drove off the left side the road. The Passat hit the concrete median barrier and the Passat started to slide before it overturned and came to rest in the roadway facing north.
The driver sustained serious injuries and was taken by Meramec Ambulance to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur, the report said.
He was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated while at the hospital, the report said.
He will not be named unless he is charged with a crime by the Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
The driver was not wearing a seat belt, the report said. The Ford was totaled in the crash, according to the report.
