A De Soto man was killed and a House Springs woman was seriously hurt in a one-car accident early Tuesday (April 10) on Old Hwy. 21 south of Old Lemay Ferry Road north of Hillsboro, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At about 4 a.m., Simpson was driving a 1996 Ford Explorer south on Old Hwy. 21, where he failed to negotiate a curve, and the SUV ran off the right side of the road and struck a tree, the report said.
A passenger in the SUV – Heather Richardson, 26, of House Springs – was seriously hurt and taken by helicopter to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur, where she was listed in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit today (April 11), a hospital spokeswoman said.
Raymond M. Simpson, 28, was pronounced dead at the scene by Big River Ambulance personnel.
Neither Simpson nor Richardson was wearing a seat belt, the patrol reported.
The Explorer was totaled, the report said.
