Early Saturday morning, a tractor-trailer ran off northbound I-55 at Church Road and struck the underside of the overpass there, but fortunately no one was hurt in the accident, said Arnold Police Capt. Robert Ruckman.
The accident occurred at 6:49 a.m., when a tire blew out and the driver lost control of the big rig, which traveled from the left lane right, crossing all the lanes and then running off the right side of the road and striking the overpass, Ruckman said.
The driver was Daniel Mintz, 67, of St. Louis. He was not issued any citations, Ruckman said.
Traffic was not tied up too long because the accident was off the road, but crews were on the scene until 4:30 p.m., cleaning up debris from the accident, Ruckman said.
