traffic accident patrol patch

A De Soto man was seriously injured Dec. 15 in a two-vehicle crash at Hwy. 47 and Rockford School Road in southeast Franklin County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 1:19 p.m., Robert H. Rappold, 64, of St. Clair, in a westbound 2005 Chevrolet Silverado, was crossing the highway from Old Mount Hope Road to Rockford School Road and reportedly failed to yield to a southbound 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 driven by Stanley W. Dix, 44, of De Soto, and the front of the Ram struck the right side of the Silverado. Then, the impact pushed the Silverado into a stop sign, road sign and utility pole, the report said.

No injuries were reported for Rappold. Dix, however, was taken by Meramec Ambulance to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur where he was treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.

According to the report, both drivers were wearing seat belts, and the vehicles were totaled.
