A 41-year-old Dittmer motorcyclist was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated after he was involved in an accident in which he and his passenger, a 33-year-old Arnold woman, were injured.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the Dittmer man was riding a 2001 Harley Davidson west on Dittmer Catawissa Road west of M.A. Falconer Road at 7:31 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 16) when he rode off the right side of the road and hit a tree. His passenger, Asha Schulze, 33, of Arnold, was thrown from the motorcycle.

Both sustained moderate injuries and both were taken by Valle Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, the report said.

Updates on their conditions were not available.

The Dittmer man was arrested on two counts of driving while intoxicated, the first as a persistent offender and the second causing physical injury.

He will not be named unless he is charged with a crime by the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

Neither person was wearing a state-approved safety helmet, the report said. The motorcycle was totaled in the crash, according to the report.
