A 73-year-old Dittmer man was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated following a two-vehicle accident that happened Wednesday night (Nov. 10) on Hwy. B north of Cedar Hill Road south of Cedar Hill. A St. Louis juvenile was seriously injured in the crash, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

The Dittmer man was driving a 2020 Ford Ranger south on the highway, crossed the center line and struck a northbound 2002 Ford F150 head-on. Then, the Ranger ran off the left side of the road and struck a ditch and tree, the report said.

The juvenile was driving the F150.

The Dittmer man had minor injuries and was taken by Big River Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, where he was listed in good condition late this afternoon (Nov. 11), a hospital spokesman said.

No information was available about the juvenile’s condition. The highway patrol did not release the boy’s name because he is a juvenile.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.

The two vehicles were totaled, the report said.

The highway patrol arrested the Dittmer man at 12:42 a.m. today at the hospital for allegedly driving while intoxicated – serious injury.

His name will not be published unless charges are filed against him, and as of this afternoon, none had been filed.
