A De Soto woman and a Villa Ridge man were seriously hurt Tuesday morning (June 6) in a one-vehicle accident on Hwy. 21 north of Castle Ranch Road in the Hillsboro area, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.
At 10:30 a.m., John M. Koenig, 26, of Villa Ridge was driving a 1991 Chevrolet Suburban north on Hwy. 21, and the SUV ran off the right side of the highway before the driver overcorrected and then lost control of the vehicle, which returned to the road, crossed the center of the highway and then ran off the left side, where it struck an embankment and overturned, the report said.
Koenig and a passenger in the vehicle – Sierra L. Haug, 24, of De Soto – were taken by Valle Ambulance to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in south St. Louis County.
This afternoon (June 8) Koenig was listed in satisfactory condition, and Haug had been treated and released, a hospital spokesman said.
Neither one was wearing a seat belt, the patrol reported.
The SUV was totaled, the report said.
