A De Soto woman was injured in a two-vehicle traffic accident late Friday afternoon (Sept. 14) on Hwy. 67 at Papin Road north of Valles Mines and east of De Soto.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that Karen Laidlaw, 59, of De Soto was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Sonic east on Papin Road at 5:45 p.m. and was in the crossover in the middle of Hwy. 67 waiting to turn left onto northbound Hwy. 67. As she began turning left, a northbound 2006 Toyota Corolla driven by Tanya Allen, 42, of Athens, Ill., failed to yield at the crossover and began skidding. The right front of the Toyota struck the right front of the Chevrolet.
Laidlaw sustained moderate injuries and was taken by Valle Ambulance to Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City, the report said.
An update on her condition was not available.
The report made no mention of an injury to Allen.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts, the report said. Both vehicles had extensive damage.
