Mikayla E. Willy, 18, of De Soto was injured this morning (April 21) in a one-vehicle accident on Hwy. 67 south of Cash Lane north of Bonne Terre near St. Francois State Park, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 7:20 a.m., Kristen S. Kelley, 39, of De Soto was driving a 1995 Chevrolet 1500 south on the highway, reportedly traveling too fast for the slick road conditions, and the pickup struck the right bridge barrier and then ran across the center of the road and off the left road edge, where it struck the median cable barrier, the report said.
No injuries were reported for Kelley. However, Willy, who was a passenger in the truck, was moderately injured and taken by St. Francois County Ambulance to Parkland Health Center in Bonne Terre, according to the report.
Kelley was wearing a seat belt, and Willy was not wearing one, the patrol reported.
The pickup was totaled, the report said.
