traffic accident 2

Two De Soto men were injured Monday morning (June 3) in a four-vehicle accident on Hwy. 67 south of Meyer Road south of Festus, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 7:20 a.m., Troy J. Shepherd, 22, of De Soto was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu north on Hwy. 67 and stopped in the left lane at the intersection with Meyer Road, and Lacey P. Yount, 19, of Belgrade was stopped behind him in a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze, the report said.

Shannon R. Green, 21, of Festus approached the two cars from behind in a northbound 2007 Chevrolet Blazer and struck the back of the Cruze, which, in turn, hit the Malibu. Then, the Blazer went into the right lane and hit a northbound 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, which was driven by Dennis J. Farris, 64, of De Soto, according to the report.

Shepherd was moderately hurt and transported by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City, where he was treated and released, a hospital spokesman said.

Farris had minor injuries and was treated at the scene. No injuries were reported for Yount or Green.

All four were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.

The Malibu, Cruze and Blazer were extensively damaged, and the Silverado was moderately damaged, the report said.
