Two De Soto men were hurt late Tuesday afternoon (Dec. 8) in a three-vehicle accident on Hwy. 67 north of Meyer Road south of Festus, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.
At 4:30 p.m., William B. Sternard, 22, of De Soto was driving a 2005 Pontiac Vibe south on Hwy. 67 and failed to notice vehicles stopped ahead for traffic, and the front of the Vibe struck the rear of a southbound 2007 Chevrolet 1500, causing it to strike another southbound pickup, a 2010 Chevrolet Colorado, the report said.
Allen D. Gordon, 58, of De Soto was driving the Chevrolet 1500 and David R. Haverstick, 53, of De Soto was driving the Colorado. No injuries were reported for Haverstick.
However, Sternard sustained moderate injuries, and Gordon minor injuries, the report said.
Sternard was taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Parkland Health Center in Bonne Terre, and Gordon was taken by private conveyance to Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City.
Sternard was not wearing a seat belt, but Gordon and Haverstick were wearing them, the patrol reported.
The Vibe was totaled, the 1500 sustained moderate damage and the Colorado minor damage, the report said.
