A De Soto man is in serious condition following a crash on Wednesday, Sept. 18, on Hwy. 141 at Schneider Drive in the Jefferson County portion of Fenton, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 10:47 a.m., Gerda B. Johnson, 91, of St. Louis, driving a northbound 2007 Ford Fusion, reportedly failed to yield at a red light and struck a southbound 2013 Ram driven by Terry B. Compton, 69. The Ram skidded of the left side of the road and struck a southbound 2020 International MV607 driven by Phillip L. Coleman, 32, of St. Louis, ejecting Compton, the report said.

Compton was seriously injured and Johnson was moderately injured, and both were taken by Rock Township Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, the report said.

According to a hospital spokesman, as of Thursday afternoon, Sept. 19, Compton was in serious condition and Johnson in satisfactory condition.

Compton and Johnson were not wearing seat belts and Coleman was, the report said. The Ram and the Ford were totaled, and the truck had minor damage.
