A 21-year-old De Soto man was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated following a one-car accident Thursday night (April 2) on Hillsboro Victoria Road near Scanlon Lane north of De Soto and west of Festus. Both the man and a female passenger in the car were hurt, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 11:10 p.m., the man was driving a 1998 Pontiac Firebird north on Hillsboro Victoria Road, and the car started to slide and ran off the left side of the road, where it struck a tree and a utility pole before coming to rest off the west side of the road, the report said.
The man was moderately injured, and the passenger – Tiffanie L. Davis, 22, of De Soto – was seriously hurt. Both of them were taken by Valle Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, according to the report.
The man was treated and released, and Davis was listed in satisfactory condition this afternoon (April 3), a hospital spokesman said.
Neither one was wearing a seat belt, the patrol reported.
The car was totaled, the report said.
The patrol arrested the man around 12:05 a.m. today for an alleged DWI resulting in serious injury.
His name will not published unless formal charges are filed, and as of this morning, none had been filed.
