Two men, one from the De Soto area and the other from Valles Mines, were hurt May 1 when a tractor they were working on rolled over them, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reports.

The Sheriff’s Office got a call at 2:06 p.m. about the accident.

A 48-year-old man, who lives in the 14000 block of Hwy. JJ in the De Soto area, and a 74-year-old Valles Mines were working on a 1970 Ford tractor at the younger man’s home, and it began rolling forward in the driveway and ran over the older man’s legs, the report said.

Then, the younger man tried to stop the tractor from continuing to roll forward in the driveway, and it ran over his foot, according to the report.

The 74-year-old man was taken by helicopter to an area hospital for treatment, and the 48-year-old man was taken by ambulance, the report said.

Capt. Ron Arnhart said today (May 4) that he did not know what the men’s conditions were.
