A 21-year-old man was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated following a two-vehicle accident Monday night (Dec. 7) on Hwy. 30 at Dillon Road in High Ridge, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

The highway patrol traffic accident report says the man lives in Pevely, and the patrol’s arrest report says he lives in High Ridge.

At 10:50 p.m., the man was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Astro west on the highway and allegedly ran a red light, and then the right front side of the van struck the left front of a 2003 Ford F150 driven by Sarah E. Cisneros, 17, of High Ridge, who was turning left from Dillon Road onto eastbound Hwy. 30, the report said.

Both the 21-year-old man and Cisneros had minor injuries, as did a passenger in the pickup – a 5-year-old Imperial girl, according to the report.

The 21-year-old man was taken by a highway patrol trooper to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, where he was treated and released.

Cisneros and the juvenile refused treatment, the report said.

A passenger in the Astro – Micah V. Smith, 21, of Mineral Point – was seriously injured and taken by North Jefferson County Ambulance to Mercy South, where he was listed in good condition Wednesday afternoon (Dec. 9), a hospital spokesman said.

The driver of the van was not wearing a seat belt, but all the others involved in the accident were using safety devices, the patrol reported.

Both vehicles were totaled, the report said.

The van driver was arrested at 11:26 p.m. at the Jefferson County Jail, according to the report.

The man's name will not be published unless charges are filed against him, and as of this afternoon (Dec. 10), none had been filed.
