A Cedar Hill man was hurt when a pickup struck the tractor he was driving on Hwy. 30.

David K. Bonacker, 54, of Cedar Hill was hurt Sunday afternoon (March 10) when he was driving a tractor on Hwy. 30 at Cedar Springs Road in Cedar Hill and was hit by a pickup, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 1:55 p.m., Bonacker was driving the tractor east on Hwy. 30, and Ryan D. James, 33, of Luebbering, driving an eastbound Chevrolet Suburban, hit the back of the tractor the report said.

Bonacker was moderately injured and was taken by Big River Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, where he was treated and released, a hospital spokesman said.

The Cedar Hill Fire Protection District received a call at 1:59 p.m. about the crash and was on scene by 2:04 p.m., Fire Chief Mick Fischer said.

He said crashes involving farm equipment are not common, although a lot of farm equipment uses roads in the area.

“We’re getting to that time of year when spring planting is going to start and we are going to see a lot more farm equipment on the roads again,” Fischer said. “It’s a reminder to people that they need to be cautious and aware of slow-moving vehicles that could be on our roadways at any given time.”

Cedar Hill Fire was on the scene until 3:11 p.m., Fischer said.

Luebbering was wearing a seat belt, and Bonacker was exempt from using a safety device, the patrol reported.

Both the tractor and the pickup were totaled, the report said.
