A beer truck overturned, spilling beer cans and foam on the ramp from I-55 to Hwy. 67 in Festus and snarling traffic in the area.

A traffic accident involving a tractor-trailer left piles of beer cans and foam spread all around the ramp connecting southbound I-55 with Hwy. 67 in Festus. The accident occurred about 7:40 p.m. Tuesday evening (July 14), Festus Police Chief Tim Lewis said.

“The vehicle, a 2012 Freightliner tractor-trailer, was southbound on I-55 going to make a right onto Hwy. 67,” Lewis said. “The driver said the driver’s-side wheels of the trailer went off the left side of the ramp and (the trailer) tipped over. The tractor also – everything – turned over. The whole load spilled out.”

Lewis said he did not know how much beer was involved.

“There was beer everywhere,” he said. “It was all over the median, all over the highway. It took about two hours to get it cleaned up and for the ramp to reopen.”

No injuries were reported for the driver, Win Thang, 40, of Denton, Texas, who was wearing a seat belt, Lewis said.

“The trailer was completely destroyed and the tractor was all torn up,” Lewis added.
