A man and woman, both 35 and both from Barnhart, were injured Sunday night, Jan. 29, in a one-car accident on Hwy. 21 near the 184.6 mile marker in the Otto area, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 11:17 p.m., Cody B. Leu was driving a 2004 Saturn Ion north on the highway, and the car began to slide on the ice-covered road, ran off the right side of the road, struck a tree and overturned, the report said.
Leu and a passenger – Melissa M. Branson, 35, of Barnhart – were moderately injured and taken by Rock Township Ambulance District to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, according to the report.
Leu was treated and released, and the hospital had no information about Branson, a Mercy spokesman said.
According to the report, Both Leu and Branson were wearing seat belts, and the vehicle was extensively damaged.
