A 62-year-old Barnhart man who was injured Sunday morning (July 8) in a two-car accident was later arrested for driving while under the influence of drugs, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At about 9:35 a.m., the man was driving a 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser west on Hwy. MM at Sycamore Springs when he crossed over the double solid lines and struck an eastbound 2003 Mazda Protege driven by Harold E. Silvey, 54, of Hillsboro, the report said.

No injuries were reported for Silvey.

The Barnhart man was moderately injured and taken by Big River Ambulance to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in south St. Louis County, where he was listed in satisfactory condition, a hospital spokesman said today (July 9), according to the report.

The highway patrol arrested the man at 12:11 p.m., the report said.

Both cars were totaled, the patrol reported.

The two drivers were wearing seat belts, the report said.
