Carol Jenkins, 76, of Arnold, who was run over by a FedEx truck last week in an Arnold subdivision, was listed in satisfactory condition Tuesday (June 9) at Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, a hospital spokesman said.
Jenkins was hit by the truck at about 3 p.m. June 1, as it was backing up in the 1700 block of Rhythm Lane. The driver, a 31-year-old St. Louis man, told Arnold Police officers he did not know Jenkins was behind his truck after he returned from completing a delivery, Arnold Police reported.
A back tire ran over Jenkins, who ended up underneath the middle of the truck. Rock Community firefighters freed her from under the truck, and she was taken by Rock Township Ambulance to Mercy South with serious injuries, the report said.
Arnold Police were told June 5 that Jenkins’ condition was improving and she was being transferred from the hospital’s intensive-care unit to a standard hospital room, Capt. Rich Shular said.
“She does appear to be doing better,” Shular said. “That is a great thing.”
Shular said Arnold Police had not made any arrests or sought any charges in connection with the accident as of Tuesday, although the incident was still being investigated.
