A 40-year-old Fenton woman was arrested after she reportedly tried to speed away from Arnold Police two days in a row. After the second time she allegedly fled from police, she was involved in a crash and was arrested, police reported.
Officers had attempted to stop a maroon 2010 Kia Forte at about 3:05 p.m. April 28 on Michigan Avenue because the car had a license plate registered to a different vehicle. The driver sped away from the officers on westbound Church Road, and they did not pursue the car, the report said.
The vehicle was entered as wanted, and at about 12:45 p.m. April 29, officers saw the Kia headed toward Arnold on Hwy. 141 near Hwy. 21. The officers began to follow the car, but they did not turn on their cruiser’s lights and sirens. However, the driver noticed the officers and allegedly started speeding on the highway, according to the report.
The officers did not chase the Kia, but it ended up hitting a 2003 Toyota Highlander near the intersection of Hwy. 141 and Astra Way, the report said.
Arnold Police did not report who was driving the Highlander, but no injuries were reported from the accident. Both vehicles sustained minor damage, the report said.
The woman who was driving the Kia reportedly was the same person driving the car the day before who fled for officers. Also, the woman was driving with a suspended license, Arnold Police reported.
An officer also found the woman with a glass smoking pipe, the report said.
She was taken to the Police Station and booked and released with citations to appear in Arnold Municipal Court for resisting arrest, driving with a revoked license, improper lane use, driving without insurance and possession of drug paraphernalia, Detective Lt. Jeremy Christopher said.
