An Arnold man was seriously hurt early this morning (Aug. 2) in a wreck involving a utility vehicle in the 4700 block of Hwy. BB in St. Francois County. A St. Peters man also was hurt in the accident, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
Derrick R. Brelsford, 44, of St. Louis was driving the Polaris Ranger 500 side-by-side UTV, “accelerating in circles in the yard,” and the right rear tire caught a hole in the ground, which caused the vehicle to roll onto its passenger side, the report said.
No injuries were reported for him.
However, two passengers in the vehicle – Damon M. Aubuchon, 41, of Arnold and Jason J. Sprague, 29, of St. Peters – were hurt. Aubuchon was seriously injured, and Sprague was moderately injured, the report said.
Bot were taken by St. Francois County Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, where Aubuchon was treated and released, and Sprague was listed in satisfactory condition this afternoon, a hospital spokesman said.
The three men were not using safety devices, the patrol reported.
The UTV was not damaged, the report said.
