traffic accident 2

An Arnold man and a Gerald woman were injured Tuesday afternoon (March 5) in a two-car accident on Hwy. 50 just east of Hwy. 185 in Franklin County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 12:35 p.m., Christine M. Ditto, 51, Owensville, who was driving a 2009 Cadillac CTS east on Hwy. 50, was “inattentive,” and the front of car struck the rear of an eastbound 2001 Buick Century driven by Mary K. Borgmann, 68, of Beaufort, who was stopped on the highway waiting to make a left turn, the report said.

No injuries were reported for either driver. However, two passengers in the Cadillac – Glen B. Hoops, 49, of Arnold and Betty J. Kline, 80, of Gerald – were injured.

Hoops, who was seriously hurt, was taken by St. Clair EMS to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur, and Kline, who had minor injuries, was taken by St. Clair EMS to Mercy Hospital Washington, the report said.

No information about their conditions was available this afternoon (March 7).

Both drivers and Kline were wearing seat belts, but Hoops was not wearing one, the patrol reported.

The Cadillac was extensively damaged, and the Century had minor damage, the report said.
