man in handcuffs

A 32-year-old Arnold man was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated following a one-vehicle accident that happened Wednesday night (Feb. 2) on I-55 north of Hwy. 61 south of Festus. The man was injured in the wreck, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 8:50 p.m., the man was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado north on the interstate and reportedly was traveling too fast for the road conditions, and he lost control of the pickup, which overturned and ran off the right side of the road, where it struck a rock bluff, the report said.

The man was taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, where he was treated and released, a hospital spokesman said.

It is unknown if the man was wearing a seat belt, the patrol reported.

The pickup was totaled, the report said.

The highway patrol arrested the man at 10:07 p.m. at the hospital for DWI. His name will not be published unless charges are filed against him, and as of this afternoon, none had been filed.
