A 37-year-old Arnold man was arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated after he drove a pickup off the road while attempting to turn onto Arnold Tenbrook Road from Telegraph Road. He had at least four previous DWI arrests, Arnold Police reported.
At about 8:25 p.m. Oct. 14, Arnold Police got a call that a 2015 GMC Sierra traveling south on Telegraph Road failed to negotiate a right turn onto Arnold Tenbrook Road, hit a yield sign and ran off the road into a ditch. When officers arrived, the driver allegedly denied he was driving the pickup and provided a false name. However, a 65-year-old Arnold man who was a passenger in the pickup told officers the 37-year-old had been driving, according to the report.
The driver allegedly refused to take field sobriety tests, but he was arrested for suspicion of DWI. Officers also discovered the driver had previously been arrested four times for DWI and had been convicted three times for DWI, Arnold Police reported.
The man was arrested and taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and released pending application for warrants. Arnold Police will seek charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for felony DWI-persistent offender and obstruction, Cpl. Brett Ackermann said.
