A 42-year-old Arnold man was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated after an SUV he was driving ran off the road, crashed through a Missouri Department of Transportation fence and hit a drainage pipe, Arnold Police reported.
The witness who called police at approximately 6:45 p.m. Nov. 21 about the accident reported following the man, who was driving a 2022 Nissan Kicks, from Walmart, 2201 Michigan Ave., to the 1300 block of West Outer Road, where the accident occurred, the report said.
The suspect was in the SUV when police arrived, and he allegedly refused to perform field sobriety tests. No injuries were reported for the man.
He was arrested and taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and released with summonses to appear in Arnold Municipal Court for alleged DWI, driving without insurance and committing a lane violation, Lt. Jeremy Christopher said.
The Kicks was damaged in the accident and was towed because of the arrest, Arnold Police reported.
MoDOT had not provided an estimated cost to repair the fence and drainage pipe, Christopher said.
