Nearly 20 agencies are expected to be at the multi-agency resource center this weekend offering information and services to local residents affected by the recent flooding in the area.

The American Red Cross, Catholic Charities and Lutheran Children and Family Services is organizing the event, which will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9 and from 1-6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 10, at Valley Middle School, 4300 Gravois Road, in House Springs.

Some of the services the agencies can offer are debris removal, hoising assistance, insurance and legal services, food stamp replacement, health and mental health services, emergency assistance and vouchers programs.

Other agencies expected to be at the event include AmeriCorps, the Department of Insurance, the Department of Health and Senior Services, Legal Services of Eastern Missouri, the Missouri Attorney General’s Office, Mid-East Area Agency on Aging, the University of Missouri Extension, the Jefferson County Health Department and Comtrea, the county’s primary mental health agency.

The Missouri Baptist Convention’s Disaster Relief group will have representatives at the event, too. Many volunteers from that group already have been working in Arnold and other areas affected by the flooding to help victims, said Arnold Ward 4 Councilman Gary Plunk, one of the volunteers.

He said anyone who needs help cleaning up or disinfecting their home may call the Missouri Baptist Convention at 573-645-6795.

Some of the agencies at the resource center will require proof of state residency.

Meals and childcare will be available at the event.
