K-Pop fans rejoice! BTS is set to make their first award show appearance in four years at the American Music Awards. The Korean band will make a special appearance on the show.

They made their debut on the AMAs in 2017 as the first K-Pop group to perform on the show. A May 20 press release teases a “special appearance,” but it does not specify if they are performing, presenting, or doing something else.

BTS is nominated in three categories this year — Artist of the Year, Song of the Summer, and Best Male K-Pop Artist — for their fifth studio album, ARIRANG. They could perform their song “SWIM,” from the album, which debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, but it is not certain.

The group had to complete their Korean military service before returning to music. They finished their service in June 2025 and quickly returned to their career. BTS consists of seven members — RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook.

The AMAs honors the most influential artists and songs of today, along with unforgettable performances and special moments, in a multi-genre, cross-generational celebration of music. It is the world’s largest fan-voted award show, and has been since 1974.
