Like so many of the zombies he discussed with various guests on the Emmy-nominated Talking Dead, the man who redefined the after-show idea is back! And this time, Chris Hardwick‘s serving up a different kind of entertainment-fueled coffee klatch.
TVInsider can report exclusively that AMC Global Media has partnered up with comedian and former Shipmates host for the relaunch of the I Think You’re Overthinking It podcast, previously known as The Nerdist Podcast and ID10T with Chris Hardwick. The original iteration, which has been in cold storage since 2018, was what The Wall host once called a forum “about what it really means to be a nerd.” This new take, according to AMC, will be focused on pop culture, movies, TV, music, comedy and more, “all through the lens of overthinking.”
“We are delighted to collaborate and reunite with Chris, who has an unmatched ability to tap into the heart of pop culture—whether its music, movies, TV and all the wonderful corners of fandom— and turn that curiosity into smart, entertaining conversation,” said Ben Davis, EVP of scripted programming for AMC Global Media in the release sent to the media. “This podcast is a natural extension of the world our audiences love and we couldn’t be more excited to bring his voice and perspective back into the AMC Global Media family.”

For his part, Hardwick states in the release that he and AMC “had been looking for the right way to work together again after Talking Dead wrapped in 2022 and this felt like a natural fit. I stepped away from podcasting that same year for a bit during a parenting hiatus and when I brought the show back last year, it evolved into I Think You’re Overthinking It. The podcast has always been rooted in conversations about curiosity, anxiety, fandom, creativity, all the ways our brains can spiral when we care deeply about something and how to get out of our own way. When AMC saw an opportunity to expand it into a video series, it felt like the perfect next step.”
The audio and video podcast is set to record in Los Angeles and will feature weekly guests, including Hardwick’s pals, “for deep-dive, free-flowing conversations that explore the intersection of personal hobbies, life lessons, and the obsessive side of fandom—all while attempting to navigate the beautiful, neurotic mess of overthinking everything.”
So far, the lineup boasts a bunch of our favorites, including Billy Magnussen (The Audacity), Alison Brie (Glow), Nathan Fillion (The Rookie), Jason Ritter (Matlock), Lamorne Morris (New Girl) and film director Eli Roth (Ice Cream Man), with more to be announced. There will be 12 hour-long episodes made available weekly across AMC Global Media’s broader distribution system, including AMC+, All Reality, FAST channels, YouTube and digital/podcast platforms, beginning Sunday, May 31.
So what do you (over)think about this? Will you be tuning in?
