Scooby Doo, a schnauzer, was fascinated with this turtle when it roamed into Francine Stange’s front yard in Festus in June 2016.
“It’s a random turtle,” she said. “Scooby just sat there for hours waiting for the turtle to come out of its shell. He never did. I eventually put the turtle in high grass.”
Scooby is probably 11 or 12, Stange said.
“We’re not sure how old he is or if he’s a purebred,” she said.
Stange, who is a cancer survivor, said Scooby has provided her with a lot of comfort.
“He’s the best dog in the world,” she said. “I was in chemo and our pet Airedale died. We got Scooby from a relative and he was a blessing. I’m doing really well. I’m in remission.”
Stange remains a big fan of Scooby Doo.
“He has a good personality, very compassionate,” she said. “Goodness yes, we’ve enjoyed having Scooby.”
