Barbara Priddy of Cadet said her German shepherd dog, Jade, and black cat, Jette, have been a comfort to her since her husband’s death.

“I lost my husband, Andy, 21 months ago, and Jade became more of a protector,” Priddy said. “Jette is more of a loner, independent. They’re good companions for me. They’re both rescues.

"Jade is kind of laid-back. Jette won my heart. Jade was rehomed.”

Priddy said both the dog and cat are females, but she doesn’t know their ages.

She said Jade and Jette became closer after another of her pets died.

“I had another black cat, Coda,” Priddy said. “I ended up losing him. When he died, it was like they both missed him and became good friends.”
