Emily Lay of Crystal City said one of her pets, Oswald, is an “All-American dog.”
“He’s a mixed breed or mutt,” she said. “He’s supposed to be a German shepherd, Lab and pit bull mix.”
Lay said she likes to put costumes on Oswald, 4, and he never makes a fuss.
“I dress him up all the time,” she said. “He doesn’t seem to mind. He’s got a lion costume for Halloween.”
Lay said Oswald has an agreeable personality overall and plays nicely with her other dogs, including Oswald’s littermate, Pandora, and two younger dogs, Perseus and Finnick.
Oswald has some unusual tastes for a dog, Lay said.
“He’s like a horse. He loves carrots and apples,” she said.
Oswald has several interests.
“We have a kiddie pool he likes to hang out it in,” she said. “He also likes the end-of-season dog swim they have at the Arnold (Recreation Center) Pool.”
In addition to swimming, Oswald enjoys tearing the fuzz off tennis balls.
Oswald took obedience training and “scored a perfect 10 out of 10,” Lay said.
