If Pepper and Sadie look familiar, you may have seen them at an annual live nativity scene in Jefferson County, said owner Christina Duepner of De Soto.
“They’re the donkeys in the live nativity scene put on by the De Soto Knights of Columbus at Mahn Funeral Home each year,” Duepner said. “They’re the favorites at the nativity scene. I see them in pictures people put online.”
Pepper, 8, at left, and Sadie, 10, enjoy people, Duepner said. Both are female standard full-size donkeys, she added.
“They love attention,” she said. “They really like visitors.
“I love the photo of Pepper and Sadie because it looks like they are smiling for the camera. I also love it because they look so happy to see me.”
The donkeys appreciate treats, Duepner said.
“They like their snacks,” she said.
