Leon Goldenbear, a golden retriever, loves water, as illustrated in this June 2016 photo. The shot was taken in Brushy Creek in Reynolds County, said the dog’s owner, Paula McBurnett of Eureka.
Leon Goldenbear is 6 now.
“He loves to swim,” she said.
McBurnett said her family is fond of golden retrievers, as well as the name Leon Goldenbear.
“He is named after Leon Russell, the singer,” she said. “My late husband, Stephen, named this puppy when he was 8 weeks old. We had two Leon Goldenbears before. They were all golden retrievers.”
The current Leon Goldenbear is playful and fun, McBurnett said.
“This Leon’s favorite game is to catch balls in the air, and he’s really good at it,” McBurnett said. “He’s very gentle and very intuitive. He’s a very happy dog.”
