Kody, a 10-year-old tuxedo cat, has never made a sound, except for one time, said Kayla Schanz of Festus.
She and her husband, Nolan, own Kody. In the photo, Nolan displays a shirt he had made for Independence Day featuring an image of Kody.
“Kody has no voice, he has never been able to meow,” she said. “The one and only time I’ve heard him make a noise was when I ran over him with a car. He let out a big squeal. I felt it and I heard him.”
Fortunately, Kody did not sustain a serious injury from the accident, Schanz said.
“I rushed him to a vet,” she recalled. “He was absolutely fine. He was sore in his ribs.”
Schanz describes Kody as an affectionate pet.
“He is a very loving, but rough cat,” she said. “He has one brother cat and three sister cats. He loves wrestling with them.
“He is very loving to humans. He’s an outside cat. He hunts.”
She said in a home full of pets, Kody rules the others.
“We have five cats and two dogs,” she said. “He’s king of the animals.”
