Ike, the miniature schnauzer.

Ike, a miniature schnauzer.

Ike, a 6-month-old miniature schnauzer, got his name from a former president, said owner Ronda Scrimsher of Imperial.

“My daughter (Serenity, 9) named him Ike after learning about Dwight Eisenhower in history,” Scrimsher said. “We learned how he had the first political commercial, ‘I like Ike.’ And, there you go.”

The Scrimshers are mini schnauzer lovers.

“Ike is our third miniature schnauzer,” Scrimsher said. “They are intelligent, affectionate dogs.”

Ike is no exception, she said.

“He loves to be with us,” Scrimsher said.

Ike thinks he is a large dog, she said.

“Where we live, there are deer constantly in our yard,” Scrimsher said. “As small as he is, the thinks he can catch them. He chases deer and groundhogs.”
