Niki Morales, formerly of Festus, sent in this photo taken outside her New York home of her dogs, Daisy, left, and Duke, who appear to be learning some math.

Niki Morales, a former Festus resident who now lives in New York, N.Y., said she found this flash card featuring a math problem and could not resist staging a picture with her dogs who appear to be studying it. Daisy, a hound mix, and Duke, a pit mix, are both about 10 years old.

“I was out for a run and saw that flash card,” Morales said. “I just thought it would be a funny picture. Everybody needs a laugh these days.”

She said it took a little patience to get a photo of the dogs looking in the right direction.

“It took about 15 minutes of taking pictures,” Morales said.

She said Daisy is the bossy one of the pair.

“Daisy’s in charge of (Duke),” Morales said. “He just follows her lead.”

Morales said her dogs are well-behaved.

“They’re good,” she said.

Daisy and Duke are the granddogs of Karen LaPlant of Festus, Morales’ mother.
