If someone approaches the Blessing family’s home in Hillsboro, their 17-year-old mixed breed cat, Crystal, lets everybody know.

“She’s a guard cat,” Tonya Blessing said. “She does not like strangers. We definitely know if there’s a stranger at the house, because she’ll be hissing up a storm.”

Birds also catch Crystal’s attention, Blessing said.

“She loves to sit on our screened-in deck and listen to the birds,” she said.

Blessing said Crystal is pampered.

“She’s spoiled. She has her own little bed and her own electric blanket,” Blessing said.

Crystal still gets around well at her advanced age, Blessing added.

“She’s doing fine,” Blessing said. “She gets fed canned food twice a day and bottled water. We love her to pieces.”
